GUWAHATI: A forest employee from the Haflong forest division in Assam's Dima Hasao district died abruptly during a departmental physical fitness exam.

Brijesh Thaosen, the deceased forest official, has been identified. Thaosen, a citizen of Digrik village Haflong in Dima Hasao, was a forester (I) assigned to Haflong forest division west.

Thaosen collapsed abruptly after a stroll during the department's physical fitness exam.

He was transported to the Haflong Civil Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medics.

All front-line employees, such as forest guards, foresters II and I, deputy rangers, rangers, and ACFs, have been subjected to a departmental physical fitness exam.

The test (7 km walk) began at 6.10 a.m. today from Haflong council rotary to Boro Haflong view point and returned to Haflong council rotary.

"Brijesh Thaosen was advised to start walking, but he fell down within 5 minutes," Raju Pokrel, Deputy Ranger, Haflong forest division, stated. He was transported to the hospital, but the medical officials pronounced him dead. However, the cause of his untimely demise has yet to be determined."

The State Police Recruit should place a high priority on physical fitness and wellbeing. This is true not only in terms of law enforcement actions, but also in terms of keeping recruits healthy for life. A physically fit warrior can do daily chores with vim and alertness, without becoming overly tired, and with the energy and strength to handle the above-average physical demands found in emergency circumstances.

During the first week of training, recruits have a physical examination. Recruits are required to increase their fitness level in a gradual way after the initial examination by participating in the recruit Physical Fitness and Wellness Program. Throughout training, three further physical examinations will be used to track this development.
