Dhubri: Former legislator Ashok Kumar Singhi was conferred honorary doctorate degree by Theophany University at a function held recently at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.

Singhi was awarded the honorary doctorate degree in recognition of his social works that he had rendered all through his life and during his term as legislator of Bilasipara (East) from 2016 to 2021 particularly.

When contacted by The Sentinel, Ashok Kumar Singhi expressed happiness over receiving the honorary doctorate degree but said that he had not done social work to get an award. "But this honour has encouraged and inspired me to do more for the people," he said.

Theophany University confers honorary doctorate in recognition of profound contribution in the fields of arts, science and technology, education, politics and law, public service, humanitarian pursuits, religion and moral leadership, and civil rights.
