Assam: Former Sivasagar Municipal Board Member Nurjahan Bora Passes Away at 65

SIVASAGAR: Former member of Sivasagar Municipal Board and social worker Nurjahan Bora (65 years) of Ward No. 1, Sivasagar, passed away in the early hours on Sunday at 3:47 AM at Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh. According to Late Nurjahan Bora’s family members, she had been undergoing treatment for multiple ailments for some time.

Upon receiving the news of her demise, many people gathered at her residence in Jengonikatia. However, in accordance with her last wish, her mortal remains were taken to her paternal home in Nahoroni, Moran. The funeral prayer (Janaza) was conducted at Nahoroni burial ground at 3:30 PM on Sunday. Nurjahan Bora, wife of Late Najibur Rahman, is survived by a son, a daughter-in-law, a daughter, and grandchildren.

She was the president of the district committee of the Ujoni Asom Muslim Mahila Parishad and was actively associated with various social, cultural and voluntary organizations.

Several organizations, including the Ujoni Asom Muslim Kalyan Parishad, Jengonikatia Jumma Masjid Management Committee, Arunoday Sakha Xahitya Xabha, All Tai Ahom Students’ Union, Dr Moidul Islam Bora Smriti Rakhya Samity, and others have expressed deep condolences over her demise.
