
GUWAHATI: In a significant development, President Sridraupadi Murmu is set to visit Assam on the 24th and 25th of April with a two-day tour schedule. During the visit, she will participate in the Srimanta Sankardev Award Ceremony organized at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma met with top officials of the state government and the authority of Guwahati University in a meeting to discuss the initial preparation of the Janata Bhawan area on the occasion of the President's visit to Assam.
In the meeting, reflecting the combination of Vaishnav culture in the Shrimanta Sankardev award distribution program, CM Sarma has given random instructions to the concerned departments to keep a particular eye on the direction that every program is completed.
"HCM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired a meeting with senior officials and Gauhati University authorities at Lok Sewa Bhawan to review preparations for Hon’ble President Smt. Droupadi Murmu’s upcoming visit to Assam," CMO Assam stated in their official handle on X.
"HCM directed officials to ensure flawless execution of all events and highlight the essence of Vaishnavite culture during the Srimanta Sankaradeva Award ceremony," it further stated.
Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu’s scheduled visit to Meghalaya on January has been cancelled due to a forecast of bad weather on Thursday. Murmu was scheduled to inaugurate the golden jubilee celebrations of the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) for the Northeastern Hills Region at Umiam in the Ri Bhoi district.
