GOLAGHAT: To strengthen the education sector and promote self-reliance among students, the formal distribution of application forms under the Mukhyamantri's Nijut Moina and Mukhyamantri's Nijut Babu schemes was launched on Thursday across Golaghat district, in line with the statewide rollout in Assam. The programme was conducted in 20 educational institutions across the district, where participants also watched the live telecast of the main event held in Guwahati.
Under the Mukhyamantri's Nijut Moina scheme, a total of 19,872 girl students from higher secondary, undergraduate, postgraduate, and technical educational institutions in Golaghat district have been covered. Constituency-wise, Golaghat has the highest number of beneficiaries with 7,600, followed by Bokakhat (3,424), Dergaon (3,212), Sarupathar (3,175), and Khumtai (2,461).
Meanwhile, under the Mukhyamantri's Nijut Babu scheme, aimed at encouraging higher education among male students, 4,471 students from the district will benefit. The beneficiaries include 1,723 students from Golaghat, 1,104 from Bokakhat, 610 from Sarupathar, 569 from Khumtai, and 465 from Dergaon.
