NUMALIGARH: The Amarjyoti Library and Study Centre, located at Bishnupur in Marangi mouza, Golaghat district, is gearing up to celebrate its silver jubilee year. The library has planned a year-long programme to mark this milestone.

A public meeting was held at the library today, presided over by Prasanna Sharma and moderated by Bhaskar Barua, president and secretary of the library. The meeting was attended by several prominent personalities, including senior journalist Binon Phukan, educationist Titaram Das, Nilakanta Bora, Banikanta Phukan, President of Numaligarh Nagarik Unnayan Manch, Karmeswar Gogoi, Secretary of Golaghat District Moina Parijat, founder of the library Brojen Sharma, Nogen Saikia, Manik Phukan, and social worker Soneshwar Saikia.

During the meeting, the importance of libraries and books in human life was discussed. The attendees emphasized the need to promote a culture of reading and learning, especially among the younger generation. To oversee the year-long celebrations, a celebration committee has been formed, headed by Dipen Baruah as president and Nayana Mani Khaund as secretary. The celebrations will include various events, competitions, and programs.

The Amarjyoti Library and Study Centre was established 25 years ago with the aim of promoting education and literacy in the region. Over the years, it has become a hub for book lovers and scholars, and its silver jubilee celebrations are expected to be a grand affair.
