Assam Government Announces Key IPS Appointments And Promotions

GUWAHATI: A notification has been issued by the Government of Assam in relation to appointments and promotions of senior police officers due to its growing need to streamline public service operation from January 1, 2025.

Shri Munna Prasad Gupta IPS (RR-1995) who was recently placed in the Higher Administrative Grade Plus (HAG+) Level 16 of the Pay Matrix has been posted as Special Director General of Police (CID), Assam, Ulubari, Guwahati. His promotion was earlier announced in a departmental notification dated January 1, 2025. 

Partha Sarathi Mahanta, IPS (SPS-2007), has been promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police in Super Time Scale-II of the IPS, Level 14 in the Pay Matrix. He has been posted as Inspector General of Police (STF), Assam, stationed at Srimantapur, Guwahati, to fill up an existing vacancy. Besides, he will also be the Commissioner of Police for Guwahati Police Commissionerate, as per a notification dated December 30, 2024.

Shri Ankur Jain, IPS (RR-2011), Commandant of the 10th APBn., Kahilipara, Guwahati, has been promoted to Deputy Inspector General of Police in Super Time Scale-I of the IPS, Level 13A in the Pay Matrix. He has been transferred and posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police (AP), Assam, based at Ulubari, Guwahati, for salary and allowances purposes. He will also serve as Joint Commissioner of Police for the Guwahati Police Commissionerate.

The notification was signed by Biswajit Pegu, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Assam, Home & Political Department.
