Assam: Government Extends Upper Age Limit for Sub-Inspector of Police (Communication) Positions

GUWAHATI: In a significant development, the Assam government has announced an extension of the upper age limit for candidates applying for the position of Sub-Inspector of Police (Communication) within the Assam Police Radio Organization (APRO). This policy shift is set to take effect on October 17, 2023, increasing the maximum age for eligible applicants from the existing 24 years to 26 years.

This move signifies a strategic effort to widen the pool of potential candidates and attract a more diverse and qualified group of individuals to serve within the police force. By enhancing the age limit, the Assam Police aims to provide a greater opportunity for a larger number of aspiring candidates to join their ranks in this specialized capacity.

The Assam Police had recently advertised vacancies for seven posts of Sub-Inspector of Police (Communication) in APRO through a notification issued on October 6, 2023. With the decision to extend the upper age limit, the eligibility criteria for these positions have been updated as follows:

Age Criteria: Candidates should not be older than 26 years and must be at least 20 years of age as of January 1, 2023. This means candidates must have been born on or before January 1, 2003, and on or after January 1, 1997.

Sharing a copy of the official notification, Director General of Police (DGP) G P Singh wrote on 'X,' "GoA vide No. HMA 87/2023/5 dated 17-10-2023 has approved the enhancement of the upper age limit for recruitment to the post of Sub Inspector of Police (Communication) APRO from the existing 24 years to 26 years."

This proactive decision by the Assam government is expected to have a positive impact on the recruitment process for the Sub-Inspector of Police (Communication) positions, offering a more inclusive and accessible opportunity for eligible candidates to serve in this vital capacity within the Assam Police.
