
GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on January 2 that the government had reclaimed 74,000 bighas of forest land that had been encroached into by unidentified individuals over the previous three years and given it back to the forest department.
CM Sarma highlighted the progress in the state's struggle against encroachment by revealing that the state government currently owns 74,115 bighas of forest land.
In addition, he said that occupied land has been reclaimed and that 9,000 hectares of forest land have been returned to their rightful status as protected forest areas.
Meanwhile, the 'Advantage Assam' conference was previously announced by the Assam government on February with the goal of establishing an ecosystem that encourages innovation, facilitates faster access to capital, and eliminates bureaucratic obstacles in order to foster an environment that encourages the establishment of enterprises and industries in the state.
He claimed that in order to realise the state's potential and pursue equitable and sustainable growth, the administration had put in place a number of ground-breaking projects. He highlighted the administration's dedication to creating an atmosphere that supports economic growth.
The Government of Assam also invited artisans, entrepreneurs, startups, and creators from across the state to submit unique gift ideas for the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0: Infrastructure and Investment Summit 2025.
