GUWAHATI: The Assam Government, with support from the Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART), has recently facilitated the shipment of 8 lakh fish spawns from the Gohpur Farmers' Producer Company (FPC).

This initiative aims to boost the earnings of local fish farmers while showcasing the community’s technical capabilities in long-distance transportation of aquatic resources. The effort reflects the government's commitment to the all-round development of fish farmers in the state.

The shipment ensures better income opportunities for farmers and strengthens Assam's position in the aquaculture sector.

This was announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on his post on X which stated, "Our Govt is committed to all round development of our fish farmers. With assistance from @apartassam , Gohpur FPC recently shipped 8 lakh fish spawns, ensuring handsome earnings for the community and displaying technical capabilities in transportation over such long distance."

Meanwhile, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed optimism about the Union Budget, highlighting its potential to accelerate Assam's growth.

He lauded the announcement of a new 12 lakh MT urea factory in Namrup, which will be a game-changer, generating jobs, boosting export potential, and reducing India’s dependence on fertilizer imports.

The Rs. 10,000-crore investment will utilize Assam's natural gas resources in fertilizer production. The Chief Minister also welcomed the Rs 1.5 lakh crore infrastructure loans and Rs 44,494 crore devolution to states, which will support welfare projects.
