GUWAHATI: The Assam Government committed to purchase and distribute the science magazine ‘Bigyan Jeuti’ and other books published by Assam Science Society in all the secondary schools of Assam. A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting at the office of Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu when a delegation of the society met him on Wednesday.
However, in the current year, the books would be distributed in the PM SHRI (Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India) schools only and the rest of the secondary schools of the state would be covered during next year.
As of now a total of 382 schools in the state have been included in the first two phases of PM SHRI scheme. It is believed that this step of the state government would give a big boost to the science society in its resource management.
