
KOKRAJHAR: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya graced the 3rd convocation of Bodoland University in Kokrajhar, emphasizing the transformative power of education and the role that the institution has played in maintaining culture and propelling innovation.
Governor Acharya, while speaking, commended Bodoland University, which was created in 2009, for its contributions to higher education, research, and intellectual advancement of the Bodoland Territorial Areas. He appreciated the work of the university in ensuring cultural preservation and innovation in the last 15 years.
Congratulating the graduates, the Governor pointed out that the degrees are not just personal success but also a commitment to pay back to society. The students were called upon to adopt lifelong learning and accommodate the changing world by saying that education equips people with the power to make a lasting difference.
The Governor also appreciated the richness of Bodo language and culture and paid homage to great personalities like Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma and Bodofa Upendranath Brahma. He underlined the importance of knowledge, citing ancient works like the Bhagavad Gita and Rigveda, and urged graduates to seek out different sources of knowledge, including practical wisdom and emotional intelligence.
Citing NEP 2020, he stated that it had the potential to achieve convergence of ancient knowledge and contemporary education and position India as a knowledge leader globally. The Governor urged focus on skill acquisition and innovation and specifically asked young women to take up science, technology, and engineering career paths.
A total of 16,494 degrees were awarded during the ceremony, out of which 79 were PhDs, 7 were MPhils, and 55 gold medals, with guests from different sectors attending.
