Guwahati: Alongbar Boro, a fourth-semester MCA student from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), was honored by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya for his exceptional achievements and contributions.
Along with Boro, Teihun Makri, a Botany student and fellow National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteer at USTM, has also qualified for the final round of the prestigious "My Bharat National Championship." While Boro represents Assam, Makri represents Meghalaya in this national-level competition.
The My Bharat National Championship serves as a platform to showcase innovative ideas and visions for a developed India (Vikshit Bharat). Both students will compete in the finals on January 11 and 12, 2025, presenting their visionary ideas in front of the Prime Minister of India.
Dr. Nibedita Paul, NSS Programme Coordinator at USTM, expressed pride in the students’ achievements, highlighting how the championship reflects not only their individual excellence but also the university’s commitment to fostering quality education and values.
Organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the My Bharat Programme seeks to empower young Indians by promoting social mobility, reducing educational disparities, and equipping participants with practical skills. It also aims to inspire youth to become active citizens and future leaders.
Boro and Makri’s participation in this championship underscores their dedication and reflects USTM’s emphasis on nurturing talent and encouraging its students to contribute meaningfully to India’s development.
