JAMUGURIHAT: Governor of Assam Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Friday visited Jamugurihat as per his 3-day visit to Sonitpur district. After attending the convocation at Tezpur University, the Governor visited Kanyaka Bahumukhi Krishi Pam and toured the farm.

During his visit to Kanyaka Bahumukhi Krishi Pam, the Kanyaka family arranged a short felicitation programme in honour of the Governor and accorded a warm felicitation programme. On visiting the Kanyaka farm, the Governor visited the namghar located inside the Kanyaka farm and planted a sapling along with other dignitaries. After it, he gave a tour of the agri-farm and visited the nursery, fish farm, dairy firm, poultry farm, piggery, children park etc. and interacted with the farmers. Niraj Nishim Hazarika, a young entrepreneur demonstrated the entire project and briefed it to the Governor. Following it, the Governor visited Moronakuri village and witnessed the village culture and traditional Assamese way of life. The villagers demonstrated a replica of Assamese society in front of the Governor. He tasted various Assamese traditional dishes including chunga pitha, ketli pitha, til pitha besides others.

After it, he addressed a public gathering held in the playground of Moronakuri village. It was followed by an interactive session with the children. He had interaction with the farmers of the area. Hereafter, he took stock of the ongoing government schemes which included the JJM project of Moronakuri village, Adarsha Anganwadi center besides others. After this, he visited Ghiladhari LP School where in the school teachers felicitated the governor. He had a short interaction with the teachers. After that, he visited the model anganwadi center. The Governor was accompanied by Kumud Devi, the first lady of the state, Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika, district commissioner of Sonitpur Ankur Bharali, SP, Sonitpur Barun Purkayastha, ADCs besides other officials during the entire tour.
