DHUBRI: Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi will visit Dhubri Gurudwara Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji and offer prayers on the occasion of 347th Swahidi Divas (Martyrdom Day) of ninth Guru of Sikh religion on November 27. The three-day celebration of Swahidi Divas already got under way under the auspices of Sikh Pratinidhi Board, Eastern Zone from Saturday with Prabhat Pheri followed by blood donation camp and distribution of fruits among the patients in the civil hospital and blankets to poor people.
Besides various other rituals, a colourful Nagar Kirtan ( procession in Dhubri town) will be taken out with Gurugranth Sahib, wherein, nearly 50,000 people from the Sikh community coming from Assam, Northeast states, across the other part of the country and abroad, will take part in the procession with their respective jatha (group).
Talking to The Sentinel, secretary of Sikh Pratinidhi Board, Eastern Zone, Sardar Kulwant Singh informed that due to restrictions for two years during Covid, very few people had taken part in the Swahidi Divas celebration in 2020 and 2021, but this time they were expecting a huge Sikh devotees to take part in various programmes in three days.
