
NAGAON: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya participated in 'Gaon Mein Governor,' a program that aims to interact with rural communities and judge the effectiveness of government schemes on his maiden visit to Nagaon district.
On Wednesday, the Governor visited Tokolai Babejia village, where he interacted with villagers and gauged the effectiveness of various government welfare programs.
During his visit, Governor Acharya underlined the importance of schemes and encouraged beneficiaries to make full use of the resources available to them for better livelihood. He also appreciated the schemes for the positive impact they brought to the local community, especially to the rural areas.
As a part of his tour, the Governor visited flood-affected regions to know the challenges that villagers are facing and the support that are being given by the district administration. He also inspected healthcare as well as drinking water availability.
Apart from the village visit, Governor Acharya examined the Amrit Sarovar initiative progress at Baglajan village, and he directed officials to hold a plantation drive to enhance the place's beauty. He also visited one of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana beneficiaries and inspected housing facilities provided to them.
He concluded his visit at the Nagaon District Commissioner's office, where he was briefed on flood recovery efforts and preparedness for the monsoon season. He urged officials to ensure that government benefits reach all residents.
