GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the inter-district movement will be restored from August 16, 2021, which has been in halt due to the spate of COVID-19 cases in the state.

The Chief Minister also said that the government has relaxed COVID-19 restrictions in the districts of Lakhimpur and Golaghat, allowing the shopkeepers and traders to open their stalls or business establishments till 1 pm every day.

The curfew will be kept in place from 2 pm to 5 am in these two districts. "The shops could be opened till 2 pm in all other districts of the state. The restrictions will be imposed from 5 pm. From August 7, the shops could be opened till 6 pm,'' the chief minister said.

This is a developing story.
