Assam: Govt School Headmistress Held For Bringing Beef To School
Guwahati: A government school headmistress in Goalpara district of Assam was apprehended on May 16 for allegedly bringing meat to school for lunch.
The headmistress has been identified as Dalima Nessa, who works at the Hurkachungi ME School in the Goalpara district of Assam.
As per reports, she allegedly carried beef to the school on the day of Gunotsav in Assam.
The 56-year-old headmistress was charged with violating Indian Penal Code sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on the basis of religion, race, place of birth or residence) and 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to offend religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs).
According to the official, a complaint was filed by the school management committee after which she was arrested.
Thereafter, the headmistress was brought in for questioning the following day after a complaint was lodged against her.
She is currently in judicial custody.
Earlier last month, three persons were arrested from the Mathgharia area of the city for allegedly selling venison or deer meat. Officials of the forest department arrested the accused based on specific inputs.
The body parts of the deer were seized by the department from the apartment they were living in.
The arrested persons had been identified as Shyam Chandra Rai, Arman Puramanik and Mohammad Sahil.
The trio was interrogated by the officials so as to find out where they found the deer. Officials investigated them to check if they are linked to poaching.
A case was filed against them under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
