Assam Govt to Refund Fees Paid by Unsuccessful Candidates in Direct Recruitment Exams

GUWAHATI: Even as around double the number of candidates were selected for vacant posts in Grade III jobs in the state government and will now face a second round of interviews, the state government announced that it has decided to refund the fees taken from the unsuccessful candidates in the exam.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state government will refund the fees paid by the unsuccessful candidates and keep the fees of only successful candidates.

"For all those who could not pass the written examination, we will refund the fees they paid to appear in the exam. It will be done through the bank accounts that they used during the fee payment," CM Sarma said.

About 26,000 candidates passed the written exam for the Grade-III job test held in August-September, qualifying them for the next round of screening, the results of which the state-level recruiting commission announced on Sunday.

Sources said, roughly half of them will receive appointment letters. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the state government's chief minister, personally oversaw the recruitment test, which is a significant step in fulfilling the goal of providing one lakh public jobs each year. The results were made public by the Board of Secondary Education Assam (Seba), which administered the test, on the official website.

Sarma stated in remarks to the media: "As promised, we promptly made the written test results for the Grade-III recruitment test public. Additionally, the cutoff scores have been announced."

Early last month, the results of the Grade-IV written exam were released. The next-level interview, which entails an oral test for Grade-IV candidates and a skill test for Grade-III qualifiers, will begin in January of the following year, according to Sarma. We anticipate hiring the applicants who passed the Grade III and IV exams within the current fiscal year, he added.

The state government was moving in the right path, the chief minister added so that by the end of December, it would be able to advertise for 10,000 more positions to be filled.

In order to avoid any potential attempt by dishonest forces to leak question papers, the Grades III and IV recruitment tests were conducted with the utmost caution. The tests took place in the midst of a widespread mobile internet outage that affected many internet users nearby and in and around the testing locations. No significant anomaly was present during the examinations.

The Grade III and Grade IV exams, which were held in two waves on August 21 and August 28, drew around 14 lakh applicants. On September 11, the decisive round was held. Nine lakh people were enrolled to take part in the Grade III recruiting test, which included exams for candidates who had completed high school, those who had passed further education, and graduates.

In an announcement for Grade III positions, the commission stated that "successful candidates of the written examination (OMR based) will have to present for the next stage of test and verification of documents, the specifics of which will be communicated later on." It was also said that the candidates' individual marks wouldn't be made public until after the official results were announced.
