Assam govt to start door-to-door vaccination drive in three districts from September 02

GUWAHATI: To ensure full vaccination in Assam, the state government has decided to carry out a door-to-door vaccination drive in three districts of the state from September 02.

While announcing the revised Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) today, Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta said that the covid positive cases are still high in three districts of Assam including Kamrup Rural, Morigaon, and Golaghat in compared to other districts.

"To reduce the covid cases in these three districts, the government has decided to carry out a door-to-door visit to ensure full vaccination for all eligible citizens of the State. Booth Level Officers (BLO), gaon pradhans, ASHA workers will visit from house to house for initial checking. Our officials will then visit all households to administer the vaccine as required," the minister said.

Mahanta will be conducting a meeting in this regard with the Circle officers, Election officers, Election staffs and Health officials of Kamrup (R) in this regard today

He also announced that 100 percent vaccination will be achieved in Guwahati within a week.

As many as 570 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the State on Tuesday when 5 people died of the pandemic. While the positivity rate in the State during the day was 0.64 per cent, the recovery rate was 97.87 per cent.

As the Covid-19 situation showed improvement, the Assam government on Wednesday has issued a fresh directive saying that pillion riding on motorcycles shall be allowed with at least single vaccinated persons and compulsory wearing of mask. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) on Wednesday issued the revised and consolidated directive for both rural and urban areas.

"Pillion riding on motorcycles shall be allowed with at least single vaccinated persons and compulsory wearing of mask", the directive informed. On further transportation, it was mentioned that Intra-district transport with 100% seating capacity shall be allowed for passengers having at least single dose of vaccine.
