Assam: Guwahati Gears Up for Union Home Minister Amit Shah's Visit; Traffic Restrictions Imposed

Guwahati implements traffic restrictions for Brahmaputra Riverfront Development inauguration, alongside the inauguration of a groundbreaking Cyber Security Operations Centre.

GUWAHATI: In anticipation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's scheduled visit to Guwahati on Friday, the city is making preparations for a series of traffic restrictions to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. The focal point of these restrictions is to facilitate the inauguration of the first phase of the Brahmaputra Riverfront Development by the Union Home Minister.

Following the guidelines, there will be a variety of traffic limitations in place from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on important routes such GS Road, Punjabari Road, B Barooah Road, GNB Road, MG Road, and AT Road. This comprises slow-moving vehicles like E and Rickshaws, as well as commercial goods-carrying vehicles, ASTC buses, inter-district buses, and city buses.

On the specified day, there will be limitations on commercial goods carrying vehicles (LMV, MMV, and HMV) on NH27 from 12 noon to 7 pm and on NH17 from 4 pm to 8 pm. However, essential vehicles such as fire trucks, ambulances, and school buses are excluded.

The Brahmaputra Riverfront Development's first phase is scheduled to be opened on January 20 by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. On January 18, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conducted a personal site inspection in advance of this momentous occasion. He underlined the need of perfect execution and gave authorities instructions to guarantee the program's seamless passage.

On January 18, Amit Shah inaugurated a ground-breaking Cyber Security Operations Centre at the Assam Rifles headquarters. This centre, the first of its kind for central armed police forces, intends to improve the force's cyber security posture to a great extent.

To ensure the mitigation of external threats and avoid cyber violations, the Cyber Security Operations Centre is meant to play a critical role in the real-time monitoring of the Assam Rifles Wide Area Network (ARWAN). With cutting-edge data monitoring equipment, the facility will be operational around-the-clock, protecting against cyberattacks and setting a new standard for security measures.
