
GUWAHATI: A major breakthrough was reported when a team from the Paltan Bazar Police Station in Guwahati, Assam, busted a major gang of thieves, who ran its operation from a rented house in the city. Four people arrested were from Barpeta and are suspected of having committed a series of thefts and burglaries, one of which was reported recently in the Paltan Bazar area.
The arrested suspects were identified as Mokibul Khan, Rushikesh Kishan Shinde, Mokibul Hussain, and Harshjit Mandal. Their apprehension is done under case number 13/25 that has been linked to theft incidents at various places in the region.
During the police operation, large stocks of stolen goods such as gold necklaces, gold rings, and other ornaments made of gold and silver were recovered from them.Besides, several mobile phones stolen from various places were recovered. The police also recovered ₹75,000 in cash, which is suspected to be a part of the money earned from the illegal activities being conducted by the gang.
This operation has brought out the sustained efforts of the police in the fight against theft and burglary within this region. Further investigations are being conducted for more information about the happenings of gang activities and other suspects who could have been involved in the operations of the gang. The police are committed to ensuring safety and security within the community in the same way through such criminal enterprises.
