
SILCHAR: In a decisive move prioritizing public safety, the Public Works (Roads) Department, Borkhola Territorial Road Sub-Division has ordered the immediate suspension of all vehicular and pedestrian movement over the subway of Bridge No. 17/1 across the Harang River.
The decision comes amid a significant rise in the water level of the Harang River, prompting urgent concern over the safety of commuters. Authorities have classified the situation as potentially hazardous, and the restriction is intended to preempt any untoward incidents.
This temporary shutdown will remain effective until further notice, pending a thorough review of the situation and visible improvement in river conditions. Officials have advised the public to make use of alternate routes during this period.
The department has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and has earnestly appealed for public cooperation. “Safety remains our foremost priority. We request all citizens to adhere to the restrictions and stay updated through official notifications,” Assistant engineer PWRD, Borkhola Territorial Road Subdivision , Borkhola stated.
Residents and travelers are urged to remain vigilant and follow all advisories until the restriction is lifted and safe passage is ensured once again, stated a press release.
