TEZPUR: A disturbing incident of harassment and intimidation has been reported at Tezpur University, where two students were allegedly threatened by a group of intoxicated individuals near the university's main gate.

Despite reporting the incident to university security and local police, one of the students claimed that no immediate action was taken. The harassment escalated when the student was later blocked, photographed, and threatened again. Local residents intervened, confronting the alleged harassers.

The student, Askar Ali, further alleged that when he attempted to file a formal police complaint, he was advised to resolve the matter informally. In retaliation, the alleged harassers filed a false First Information Report (FIR) against Ali, demanding money to withdraw the complaint.

A senior official from Tezpur University commented on the incident, stating, "The incident took place outside the university premises. Since most officials are currently on vacation, not everyone is fully aware of the details. If this had happened on campus, we would have been in a position to assist or have clearer information about it."

Meanwhile, earlier last week, in a shocking incident, a nurse was allegedly abducted from a nursing home in Batadroba and later found lying on the roadside in a critical condition near Bhumuraguri. The incident has sparked widespread outrage in the district.

According to sources, the nurse was abducted by a group of miscreants on the directive of one Billal Uddin from the nursing home on December 23. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras, which showed three girls, allegedly students of a local college, taking the nurse away from the nursing home, playing tricks.
