NAGAON: A school headmaster was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a 14-year-old student inside the school premises. Arun Kumar Medhi, Headmaster of Laogaon High School, has been accused of molesting a class IX standard student under the guise of providing extra tutoring in mathematics.

According to sources, the incident took place on Saturday when Medhi asked the student to stay back after class, claiming she needed additional guidance. He then allegedly took her to a separate room within the school premises and committed the alleged heinous act. The victim regained consciousness to find herself lying on the floor.  The incident sparked widespread outrage in the area with locals protesting and physically assaulting Medhi when he returned to the school the next day. The police intervened, rescuing Medhi, and took him into custody, sources added further. Meanwhile an FIR has been filed against him under 75 BNS and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The Nagaon Police confirmed Medhi’s arrest and he was subsequently produced before a local court, which remanded him to judicial custody, sources added.
