TANGLA: In an effort to provide the tea garden populace with a robust healthcare mechanism, the state health department has taken significant steps to strengthen healthcare services in the state's tea garden areas by upgrading existing tea garden hospitals to Ayushman Arogya Mandir Sub-Centres. While Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Ashok Singhal inked an agreement with tea garden management representatives at the Janata Bhawan in Dispur, simultaneously the Udalguri district administration led by Additional District Commissioner Sarfaraz Haque formally entered into an MoU with 23 tea garden representatives from the district at the office of the District Commissioner in Udalguri on Wednesday.

The memorandum of understanding between the District Health Committee and the Tea Garden Management Committee outlines the upgradation of a total of 25 tea garden hospitals in the district to Ayushman Arogya Mandir Sub-Centre. Pertinently, the upgraded facilities will ensure the availability of free essential drug diagnostic services and other essential healthcare amenities for tea garden workers.
