Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visits Sarusajai stadium to review facilities

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma yesterday visited Sarusajai stadium, now a quarantine centre, along with Minister of State Pijush Hazarika at midnight to check the facilities and surveillance.

During his visit, he also announced that Sarusajai Stadium will serve as quarantine centre for passengers who arrive at the Guwahati airport.

Taking to Twitter, Sarma later posted pictures from his visit along with the words, "As we step up our fight against #COVID19, we need to ensure strict surveillance."

As Assam witnessed a significant upsurge in the number of daily Covid-19 positive patients, officials have advised to take full preparedness against the pandemic.

It has been reported that 267 more Covid-19 positive cases have been detected in Assam today, taking the tally of 5853 cases, Out of these, 2276 are active patients.

It is to be mentioned that the first positive case in Assam was detected on March 31. The count 5000 crossed the mark within weeks.
