Assam: High Voltage Power Lines Claim Lives of Several Birds In North Lakhimpur

Lakhimpur: At least hundreds of birds have lost their lives in a couple of months after being electrocuted by high-tension power lines in Assam's North Lakhimpur.

As per reports, the faulty power lines pass over a paddy field due to which birds often come in contact with the power cables.

In the last few days, Santipur village near Bhogpur under Narayanpur Revenue Circle has witnessed such incidents.

Birds like Sparrow, Kingfisher, Mynah, Dove, and Heron often get killed after they sit on the faulty power cables.

In this regard, villagers have lodged numerous complaints to the office of Electric Sub-Division APDCL, Bihpuria.

As per experts, such incidents are a major threat to many wild birds, particularly endangered species.
