Assam: Hojai Police disposes drugs worth Rs 8 crore

In a bid to give a vivid message to the society that Drugs are harmful to us, Hojai Police disposed of Rs 8 crore-worth drugs at the Police Reserve at Srimanta Sankardev Nagar in Hojai on Friday.

HOJAI: In a bid to give a vivid message to the society that Drugs are harmful to us, Hojai Police disposed of Rs 8 crore-worth drugs at the Police Reserve at Srimanta Sankardev Nagar in Hojai on Friday. As per information, police disposed of 3.5 kg of opium, 467.389 kg of ganja, 2.77925 kg of heroin, 66 cough syrup bottles, and 880 units of tablets and capsules.

Talking to the reporters, Pallav Tamuli, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) said, “As per the direction of Hon’ble Court, we have disposed of the drugs seized by police within Hojai district since last year.” He added, “Our crusade against drugs will continue and it is everyone’s responsibility to create a drug free society. Today at this drugs-disposal venue, we have especially invited school students, to give them a clear message that drugs are harmful to us.”
