MARGHERITA: The International Human Rights Council, Tinsukia District Committee, has revealed crucial findings through a ground investigation led by the representatives of the council. The investigation uncovered illegal coal mining activities at multiple locations under the Margherita constituency where prominent individuals involved in illegal coal mining operations include Joinal, Goni, Ramzan, Fatlu, Liton, Bubul, Sarki, Kiran,Hanif,Bikash, Sarban, Ex-Kongfa, Shibu, Pintu, Bu, Bhola, Bihari, and Shahid.
The investigation primarily focused on Rat Hole Mining and Open Pit Mining sites as within 12 hours, the council identified and documented 20 illegal mining sites, gathering comprehensive details about the miners, locations, and financial backers involved in the operations.
This contrasts sharply with the inability of the district police and Co-District administration to detect these mining sites despite their jurisdiction over 83 No. Margherita constituency, said L Ratan Singh, General Secretary of International Human Rights Council, Tinsukia District Committee.
