DIBRUGARH: To mark World Asthma Day, the Indian Army organized a series of health awareness programmes across Tipong, Daisajan, and Makum in Tinsukia district, Assam.
Focused on the theme ‘Awareness about Asthma and Respiratory Health,’ the initiatives aimed to educate and empower local communities with vital knowledge on respiratory wellness. The outreach engaged over 340 participants, including 132 villagers, 203 school students, and 10 teachers, reinforcing the Army’s commitment to proactive healthcare and community development in the region.
At Tipong, health experts from the Indian Army led an engaging session tailored for inclusivity and interaction. The programme addressed prevalent myths around asthma, preventive strategies, and included live demonstrations on correct inhaler use and emergency measures during asthma attacks.
Simultaneously, at the Daisajan camp, a detailed health lecture was conducted to raise awareness about early symptoms, common triggers, and effective management techniques. The session featured open discussions, where attendees shared personal experiences and received practical advice from medical professionals. At Assam Heights Public School, Makum, the awareness session saw enthusiastic participation from 120 students and 10 faculty members. The Medical Officer conducted a dynamic lecture on asthma prevention, followed by a question and answer segment where students engaged with thoughtful questions and shared their observations.
These outreach programmes reflect the Indian Army’s holistic approach to national service, safeguarding not just borders but also the well-being of citizens. The events concluded with a collective pledge by participants to adopt healthier lifestyles and champion asthma awareness in their communities.
