TINSUKIA: Under the banner of Operation Sadbhavana, the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Assam Amateur Boxing Association, organized a two-day boxing event in Tinsukia as an initiative to encourage community involvement and youth empowerment.
The competition, which took place from March 11 to 12, served as a dynamic platform for young boxers from Tinsukia and Dibrugarh, allowing them to showcase their talent and sportsmanship. Participants competed across three age groups (12-17 years) and 10 different weight categories, drawing attention from local sports enthusiasts and the community at large.
The Indian Army highlighted that all participants, including winners and runners-up, were duly felicitated and rewarded for their dedication and competitive spirit. The event nurtured emerging talent and strengthened the army’s connection with the local populace.
This tournament is part of a broader effort by the army to promote fitness, discipline, and nation-building among the youth. The overwhelming participation and support from the community reinforced the success of the initiative.
Similarly, the Gajraj Corps of the Indian Army, earlier on March 9, organized a grand Ex-Servicemen Rally in Tamulpur, reaffirming their commitment to veteran welfare. The rally witnessed over 4,800 ex-servicemen and their families and included the distribution of motorized scooters and wheelchairs, along with tributes to war veterans, Veer Naris, and Veer Matas.
