Morigaon: With just one month left for holding the Panchayat elections, the Congress party is also preparing for contesting in the Panchayat elections along with other political parties in the district. At a time when the Congress leaders have been making strategy for the panchayat elections, an infighting between MP Pradyut Bordoloi and the leaders of the Morigaon Congress party has raised eyebrows for everyone. It is alleged that the MP of the Nagaon constituency, Pradyut Bordoloi, has started dislodging Morigaon Congress leaders expressing displeasure over the recommendation of the name of Gaurav Gogoi at the top of the MP candidate list.
The lobby politics due to infighting among the top leaders like Gaurav Gogoi and Bhupen Borah have made a vehement impact inside the party. For the three consecutive terms during the reign of late CM Tarun Gogoi, the opposition Congress party had passed the terms with joy in the Morigaon and Laharighat constituencies. But the Congress party is likely to be rooted out due to infighting among the leaders of the party in the upcoming assembly election to be held in 2026.
After winning the MP seat, the MP, Pradyut Bordoloi, has started targeting the Morigaon Congress leaders and has started dislodging the senior Congress leaders from the party, it is alleged. Another example of Bordoloi’s atrocities is that he took the lead in removing the then District Congress President Jonjonali Barua from her post after being elected as an MP for the first time.
It is also alleged that the MP Pradyut Bordoloi has started targeting Congress senior leaders by managing the president of APCC, Bhupen Borah. To the contrary, District Congress Vice President, APCC Member, and Senior Leader Mokibur Rahman, District Congress Secretary Seemanta Hazarika, Administrative General Secretary and Khet Mazdoor Union President Shashi Mohan Biswas, Vice President and Treasurer Mofizuddin Ahmed, Vice President and Youth Congress President Jehirul Haque, District Congress Vice President and Women’s Congress President Kabita Saikia, Vice President Asad Ali Khan, Vice President Gita Prabha Patar, treasurer Shamsul Haque, Secretary Asim Bordoloi, Office Secretary Jonak Nath, and office bearers Jeeten Sharma and Chenehi Medhi, and other senior and devoted Congressmen raised their voices against the MP.
In the district, a Congress meeting was convened on December 1, 2024, to resolve the issues of the district Congress. However, most of the members boycotted the meeting, and it was not held due to lack of members.
