TINSUKIA: Every year, March 7 is celebrated as ‘Jan Aushadhi Diwas’ to raise awareness about the scheme and promote the use of generic medicines. Week-long events are organized across the country from March 1 to 7 to support this initiative.

Marking the celebration of ‘Jan Aushadhi Diwas 2025,’ on March 7 to disseminate information about the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), the Tinsukia district observed the day with an awareness meeting at the Jan Aushadhi Kendra, Naupukhuri Tinsukia, which was flagged of by Chinmoy Pathak, ADC (Health) Tinsukia, in the presence of Dr Jayanta Bhattacharjee, Joint Director of Health Services, Tinsukia, Kusha Kanta Bora, President, Tinsukia District BJP, and other district officials of Tinsukia

In the opening note, Pathak said that this initiative aims to provide quality medicines at affordable prices to the public through dedicated outlets called Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJK). PMBJP aims to inspire healthcare professionals, particularly those in government hospitals to prescribe generic alternatives thereby promoting cost-effective treatment options, said Nur Islam Hoque, District Programme Manager, National Health Mission Tinsukia. Kusha Kanta Bora, President, Tinsukia District BJP, added that this initiative seeks to provide a wide range of commonly used generic medicines across various therapeutic categories, ensuring that essential healthcare products are available to everyone, especially the marginalized.
