KOKRAJHAR: Based on reports of the disciplinary committee of the Congress party, the President of the Kokrajhar district Congress committee on Wednesday suspended its General Secretary Habil Ali for his alleged violation of party constitution.
In a statement, the President of Kokrajhar district Congress Committee, Joseph Hasda, said that the Kokrajhar district Congress committee had been keeping eyes on Ali’s repeated actions and conduct that were in clear violation of the constitution and discipline of the Indian National Congress.
Despite repeated reminders and guidance, his behaviour has continued to defy the party’s principles and caused disharmony among party workers and brought disrepute to the organization, he said, adding that the district Congress committee was compelled to take action for his repeated violations.
Hasda said that his recent activities and remarks in the media went viral and breached the party’s constitutional framework. He said that the district Congress after thorough deliberation and based on credible reports, resolved to take disciplinary action and following the disciplinary committee’s recommendation, Ali was suspended for three months from all posts and responsibilities of the Indian National Congress, including his role as district General Secretary with immediate effect. Ali has been instructed not to represent the party in any form or use the party platform during this period of suspension.
