Assam: Kokrajhar Gets First Dialysis Centre Under PM National Dialysis Programme

A new dialysis center at Kokrajhar Medical College offers free treatment, addressing rising kidney ailments and reducing travel burdens for patients in Kokrajhar and nearby areas.

KOKRAJHAR: The Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital today witnessed the opening of a modern dialysis center, marking a major leap in healthcare accessibility.

Under the Prime Minister's National Dialysis Programme, this facility has four advanced dialysis machines that can treat up to 12 patients daily. The centre aims to tackle the growing number of kidney-related health issues in the region and ease the difficulties faced by patients who require frequent dialysis treatment.

Assam Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma was present at the inauguration and emphasized that this facility is very important for the people of Kokrajhar. He reflected on the hardships that patients had to face when they had to travel long distances, at a great cost, for dialysis treatment, which was both financially and emotionally draining for their families.

Brahma remarked, “This facility will not only save lives but also bring much-needed relief to families who have endured significant challenges in accessing essential medical care.” 

The new dialysis centre offers free of cost facility and gives a positive impact to healthcare in the Kokrajhar district. It will definitely provide health care to those who cannot reach easily or afford the vital medical treatment in an improved quality of life to face chronic kidney disease patients battling their illness.

This is a significant development towards health infrastructure for the region, and it testifies the government's earnest endeavor to improve medical service at the grassroots level. The launch of this centre makes Kokrajhar ready to meet the rising demand of health services among its residents.
