Kokrajhar: In observance of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the District Administration of Kokrajhar, in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office, organized a district-level awareness campaign to combat human trafficking and witch-hunting—two critical social challenges in the region.
The event took place at the Conference Hall of the BTC Secretariat and was conducted under the SANKALP initiative of DHEW, Mission Shakti, and the Women & Child Development Department, Assam.
Bringing together key stakeholders, the campaign aimed to sensitise communities and institutions about the rising concerns related to trafficking and superstitious practices like witch-hunting. Through interactive discussions and expert-led sessions, participants explored the urgency of a coordinated approach involving community awareness, policy enforcement, and inter-departmental cooperation.
Speakers emphasized that only through shared responsibility and sustained awareness efforts can these deep-rooted issues be eradicated, ensuring safety and dignity for vulnerable individuals, especially women and children.
