KOKRAJHAR: A huge people’s rally was taken out in Kokrajhar town on Tuesday under the banner of Lok Jagaran Manch (LJM), Kokrajhar district committee in protest against the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh. The rally started from DN Himatsingha field and moved to DC office via Shantinagar. A brief meeting was also held before the rally where religious leaders of various Hindu sects attended and spoke on the occasion.

Through this rally, the Hindu wings in Kokrajhar of Assam sent a strong message to Bangladesh to end all kinds of atrocities on Hindu minorities in the country and at the same time the LJM appealed the government of India to raise its concern over the issue in the world forum. The LJM expressed serious concern over the constant attack and atrocities on the Hindus and other indigenous communities by radical elements in Bangladesh.

In his speech, the Assistant Secretary of the RSS, Assam state-Pritosh Ghose said since August 5, the Hindus in Bangladesh were being targeted continuously by the radical Islamic groups causing serious human rights violations. He said the attacks on Hindus and indigenous minority communities has become a regular phenomenon after Muhammad Yunus became the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. “There are laws, courts and systems in Bangladesh but despite these facts there is no justice and human rights in Bangladesh,” he said adding that the Hindus of the world must stand united against all forms of atrocities and human rights violations in Bangladesh. He also urged the government of India to take initiative to raise this issue in the international forum.

A Bathou religious leader in his brief speech said time had come to unite all Hindu sects across the world to save the Hindus in Bangladesh. He claimed that the massacres committed by extreme forces against Hindus in Bangladesh would not only occur in that nation but also in Indian states. “The entire lower Assamese district of Dhubri seems like it belongs in Bangladesh, while the nearby district of Kokrajhar faces a real threat from extreme Muslims attempting to invade,” he said adding that the ill-design of Muslim radical groups should be stemmed out before it takes an ugly turn. He also said entire Assam will not be safe unless everyone comes forward with impartial attitude to prevent the invasion of land, economy and demography in Assam.

A memorandum signed by the president and secretary of Kokrajhar Branch Lok Jagaran Manch Malay Choudhury and Rahul Narzary was sent to the care taker Prime Minister of Bangladesh Muhammad Yunus through District Commissioner, Kokrajhar urging him to end the attacks, atrocities and human rights violations on Hindu and indigenous communities in Bangladesh.
