GUWAHATI: In an unfortunate incident, a man and his wife died after being hit by a moving train while crossing the railway lines at Khetri in Assam's Kamrup district.

According to reports, the deceased who have been identified as Rajwi Paharia and Chandrama Devi, hailing from Khetri's Senabor was hit by the Kolong-Kopili Express at Khetri's Ulubam while they were trying to cross the rail-road.

Locals alledged that the couple was crossing the railway track together and hit them together.

Earlier this month, a speeding train bound towards Silghat hit three members of a family on the Puranigudam Bishoyachuk railway crossing.

Sources claimed that the victim family was in a Swift car and was trying to cross the railway track when the speeding rail engine crushed down the vehicle, killing all three members on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Chandra Kumar Kalita, his wife Nilima Kalita and their 16-year old son, Sunny Kalita.
