Assam: Krishi Vigyan Kendra conducts exposure visit
TEZPUR: An exposure visit was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur to Jeuti, a Garaka Farmer Producer Company, Sootea and Kanyaka Bahumukhi Pam where a total of 25 farmers participated in the programme. The farmers were taken to a paddy field under Jeuti where cultivation was done using a mechanical transplanter and harvesting has been going on using a mini combine harvester. The farmers were made aware of the benefits of using machineries in cultivation of crops.
Rupsikha Goswami, Assistant Project Scientist of APART, KVK Sonitpur highlighted how the use of machineries like mechanical transplanter and combine harvester in paddy field greatly saves time and reduces the cost of cultivation to much extent. The farmers were also taken to Kanyaka Bahumukhi Pam where they witnessed tremendous technological setup in every sector like agriculture, fishery, poultry, dairy etc. During their visit, they were also taken to banana tissue culture plot, paddy field, vegetables plot etc. Different breeds of cattle like Gir, Sahiwal etc and buffalo breed like Murrah were witnessed by the farmers.
Padma Hazarika, MLA of Sootea constituency also interacted with the farmers and officials of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur. He encouraged the farmers to adopt scientific methods of cultivation and rearing of cattle, poultry, dairy etc. He also expressed his desire to work more for the betterment of farming community in future. KVK officials Krishna Bezbaruah, Rajib Lochan sahu and Manoj Sarma also accompanied the farmers group in their visit. The farmers were very much satisfied with the visit and expressed their gratitude to the KVK officials for organizing such a fruitful tour.
