GUWAHATI: Yet again, Lovlina Borgohain made Assam proud as she brought home the Gold medal in the Asian Elite Boxing Championship in Amman , Jordan on  Friday. Lovlina managed to secure the first position in the 75 kg category. She out- boxed Ruzmetova Sokhiba of Uzbekistan, whom she faced in the finals and defeated her with a score of 5-0.

Lovlina used her sharp tactics right from the beginning of the tournament. The Boxing Federation of India congratulated Lovlina on her victory through their official tweeter account. 'Lovlina gets gold! Proud of you champ' tweeted the BFI. Assam girl, Lovlina won the bronze in the 2017 and 2021 Asian Boxing Championship, and this was her first ever finals. Several tweets were seen congratulating her after the victory.

' Lovlina you are the real star of India. All Indians are proud of you ' a user tweeted. This time the tournament was dominated by the Indian Women. Four out of Five Indian women boxers won gold medals in their respective weight categories. The other three successful boxers are Parveen Hooda, Saweety Boora and Alfiya Pathan.

This is a great win for the 25 year old Lovlina, which will eventually enhance her confidence. This is her first gold medal after winning bronze in Tokyo Olympics Games in the 64-69 kg category.

When asked about her experience, Lovlina mentioned that she followed the plans made by her coaches in all three bouts. On a video shared by the Boxing Federation of India, Lovlina said that she is happy to win the gold this time in the Asian Championship. Various thoughtful strategies were planned by her coaches and she was more than happy to successfully execute them. Lovlina is planning for her the National Championships next month, and the World Championship next year.

It was a good day for India as it won four gold medals and a silver medal in the Asian Elite Boxing Championship.
