TEZPUR: In accordance with the directives of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Government of India, the nationwide campaign ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ has been officially launched. Aligning with this national initiative, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Sonitpur, in collaboration with the district administration, agriculture department, and other allied departments, formally inaugurated the campaign in the district. The inaugural event was held on May 29 and graced by Tezpur MLA Prithiraj Rava and District Commissioner Ankur Bharali.
The programme, which will continue until June 12, was launched at the Dolabari Gaon Panchayat Office in the presence of Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Karabi Saikia Karan, Assistant District Commissioner (Agriculture) Manas Saikia, District Agriculture Officer Naren Chandra Sarma, KVK Sonitpur Chief Scientist Dr Angana Sarma, and other concerned officials.
Scheduled to run from May 29 to June 12, the campaign will cover 40 Gaon Panchayats across the district. The primary objective of the programme is to inform farmers about various government schemes and services, including farmer registration, PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, paddy and mustard procurement, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY), and the National Edible Oil Mission. In addition to spreading awareness, the campaign aims to bring agricultural scientists closer to farmers by facilitating direct engagement.
Throughout the 14-day campaign, farmers will receive guidance from agricultural experts on a wide range of topics such as soil health, climate-resilient farming technologies, resource conservation methods, vermicompost production, modern agricultural practices for Kharif crops, and the importance of soil and water conservation.
