NAGAON: The leopard spotted at an underconstruction building near local MLA at Nagaon Amulapatty on the first day of the new year, was finally tranquillized at Nagaon Dhaccapatty this morning here.
Following the sudden appearance of the big cat in the small town, created widespread panic among the residents in the town for over a couple of days and the district administration as well as officials concerned of Nagaon forest division left no stone unturned to trace the leopard. But the forest officials as well as other forest personnel could gather nothing about the movement of the cat till Friday night.
It’s reported that the cat was spotted in a CCTV camera early this morning here at Nagaon Dhaccapatty area and based on the CCTV footage, the officials of district administration as well as forest personnel rushed to the spot and launched a search operation at nearby places of the CCTV camera during which, forest personnel finally spotted the leopard sleeping at the backyard of one Thakural Modi, a resident of Nagaon Dhaccapatty area. The forest personnel immediately tranquillized the big cat and rescued it. Sources claimed that the forest personnel took the leopard immediately to Guwahati zoo after rescuing.
