Guwahati: The Assam Police Saturday recorded an 844-page charge sheet against 48 individuals in the mob lynching incident of two youth in Karbi Anglong region in June this year.

"It is a noteworthy accomplishment by the Assam Police that we could record the charge sheet inside 90 days. It is documented against 48 people blamed for lynching two adolescents at Dokmoka in Karbi Anglong on June 8," Assam Director General of Police Kuladhar Saikia said at a public interview here.

On June 8, two companions - Nilotpal Das and Abhijeet Nath - had gone to an excursion spot of Kangthilangso under Dokmoka police headquarters in Karbi Anglong.

While returning, their vehicle was ceased at Panjuri Kachari by a gathering of perturbed villagers, who hauled them out and beat them up till they before killing them, on rumours of them being child lifters.

The charge sheet, which contained 844 pages of charges against the blamed alongside 104-page case journal, was submitted in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate at Diphu, the local headquarter of Karbi Anglong.

"The charges have been encircled under Sections 302, 341, 142, 427, 143/144(I), 147 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)," the police official included.
