BAKSA: A confirmed malaria infection in a Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel has initiated an immediate public health response in Salbari, situated in the Baksa district of Assam, as authorities race against time to avert a potential outbreak.

Spearheading the containment efforts is the district health department, guided by District Vector-Borne Disease Consultant Rahim Ali Ahmed, which promptly dispatched a rapid response team to the affected area and its surroundings. The team comprises technical supervisor Marshal Basumatary, dedicated health worker Prabin Ch Daimari, and medical personnel drawn from Salbari and Palsiguri.

In a bid to curb the disease’s propagation, fever screening camps have been strategically set up across various locations. Simultaneously, teams are actively engaged in door-to-door surveillance, meticulously gathering data and screening local inhabitants for any indicative symptoms.

Furthermore, health officials are actively conducting an awareness campaign aimed at educating the local populace about the characteristic symptoms of malaria, underscoring the significance of seeking early medical intervention, and disseminating knowledge on effective mosquito bite prevention strategies.
