GOALPARA: A man was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in collaboration with the Special Task Force (STF) in Goalpara, Assam, on suspicion of having connections with the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM).

The accused, identified as Sahanur Alom, was arrested following intelligence reports and allegations that he had been in contact with the Pakistan-based terrorist group. He was apprehended, alongside two other individuals, in the Agia area of Goalpara.

The investigation into this matter is still ongoing. However, no details have been provided regarding Alom's involvement with the terror group or the reasons for his contact with them.

According to reports, the accused was arrested based on statements provided by another individual, who was apprehended by the NIA in connection with the same case two months ago.

The accused, Sheikh Sultan Ayubi, was arrested by the NIA in October for his alleged links with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM).

According to reports, the NIA is carrying out raids and operations at 26 designated locations across the country as part of an ongoing investigation into radical outfits.

Meanwhile, the previous month, a para commando of the Army was killed and three others injured on Sunday as security forces engaged in a gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar with a band of terrorists identified as the same one involved in the recent abduction and murder of two Village Defence Committee (VDC) members in the district.

Four soldiers were injured in the initial firing exchanges between the terrorists and the security forces in the Chaas area of Kishtwar.

"The injured have been shifted to hospital where attending doctors said that three of the injured Para commandos have sustained critical gunshot injuries," officials said.
