TANGLA: In a startling incident a shocking case of mob lynching has been reported in Rowta of Udalguri district where a young man suspected of theft was allegedly beaten to death. The incident took place in Kathalbari village of Rowta, on March 13. According to reports, 24-year-old Lalmohan Roy was brutally assaulted by three individuals from Kathalbari village on suspicion of stealing betel nuts.
The trio accused allegedly tied the deceased’s hands and legs before subjecting him to severe physical assault. After the incident, the police reached the spot and took the victim Lalmohan Roy initially to Rowta Police Station and , he was later shifted to Rowta Model Hospital for medical examination and was later referred to Tezpur Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on March 20 at TMCH. Following his tragic death, the All Koch-Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU) strongly condemned the incident and criticized the police for failing to arrest the accused even 24 hours after the victim’s death.
AKRSU’s central president, Atul Barman, expressed his anger over the lack of action by the police and demanded immediate arrests of the culprits involved in the heinous mob lynching incident.
