
BAJALI: A tragic road accident occurred early this morning in Assam's Bajali district, resulting in the death of Padam Bahadur Giri, an Upper Division Clerk (UDC) of the Examination Cell of the Education Department, Government of Sikkim.
Giri was traveling to Guwahati to submit examination answer sheets when the accident took place. The vehicle involved in the incident was registered in Sikkim (SK 01 J 2345). The driver, Rudra Subba, was injured and has been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Local police have secured the answer sheets, which are now in their custody. Authorities in Guwahati have been notified, and the Director of the Examination Cell, along with Giri’s family, is en route to Guwahati to manage the required formalities.
The Education Department has pledged to take full responsibility for repatriating Giri’s body to his family in Gangtok.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway, with further details expected soon. Colleagues and officials from the Education Department have expressed deep sadness over Giri's passing, remembering him as a dedicated and hardworking employee. The state government is set to offer necessary assistance to the grieving family.
