GUWAHATI: One of the individuals from Assam who got injured in the Bikaner- Guwahati Express derailment incident was reunited with his family members by taking aid from the loudspeaker of a mosque.

The injured person was later identified as Safikul Ali, a resident of the Dhula area in Darrang district, Assam.

According to reports, the man got severely injured when the train mishap occurred on Thursday 13 January. He was then admitted to Super Specialty Hospital located in the Jalpaiguri area and was received medical treatment there.

Railway Minister Ashvini Vaishnaw visited the hospital for an inquiry related to injured people in Bikaner- Guwahati Express derailment. The Minister interacted with Ali and came to know about his lost connection with family members after the incident. He realized that Ali had no option to contact any of the persons from his family or near ones.

Ali mentioned that his family had no connection with mobile contact but he has a phone number belonging to his neighbour. The Minister then attempted to find a connection with Ali's family with the help of the neighbour's mobile number but unfortunately, he failed to find any contact with the family.

After some time a mosque in the village of Ali made an announcement regarding their search for Ali's family with the help of Masjid's loudspeaker used for daily Azan.

After this Ali's family became aware of the situation and condition of Ali and his big brother left for Jalpaiguri soon after the announcement.

The Bikaner- Guwahati Express derailment in West Bengal on Thursday led to a big loss of lives as a total of 9 people died in the incident. The train mishap also left over 50 people injured among which 10 were reportedly suffering in a very serious condition.

A lot of people travelling on the train on that day have sustained minor and major injuries and they were hospitalized in a local hospital in Jalpaiguri while some are also admitted to the Moynaguri government hospital, West Bengal.

Those passengers who are said to be in critical condition were transferred to the Siliguri's hospital named North Bengal Medical College.
