NAGAON: In a sensational incident from a couple of days ago, a man allegedly killed his wife and fled from the scene along with his five-year-old child, leaving her lifeless body inside the house and locking the door from outside. The incident has rocked the Kathiatoli police outpost area in Nagaon district.
According to sources, the accused husband identified as Dimbeswar Gogoi, hailing from Golaghat district, who lived along with his wife at Tubuki Grant under Kathiatoli police outpost after marrying Ramala Konwar at Kathiatoli, allegedly strangled his wife, and fled the scene with their 5-year-old child after locking the door from outside. The incident came to light on Wednesday night when the police were informed about the locked door of Gogoi’s house. Upon breaking the door open, Ramala’s body was found inside.
The police immediately launched an investigation and started searching for Gogoi. Later, it was reported that Gogoi was arrested on Thursday by Bokakhat police. During interrogation, Gogoi allegedly confessed to the crime, citing his wife's repeated attempts to leave him and her extramarital affair as the reasons behind the murder.
The body was recovered in presence of a magistrate on Thursday morning and sent to Nagaon for post-mortem. The incident sent shockwaves in the Kathiatoli area, and the police are continuing their investigation, sources added further.
